About the event

It's a fact - play therapy outcomes are better when caregivers are involved. During this dynamic and engaging workshop, participants will explore the principles and techniques of family play therapy. Through a combination of experiential activities, discussions, and demonstrations, therapists will gain knowledge, skills, attitudes, and practices that facilitate positive caregiver/family play therapy relationships and outcomes. 

Participants will:

  1. Describe the purpose, benefits, and role of preparedness in involving caregivers and families in play therapy
  2. Discuss the importance of cultural humility in family play therapy
  3. Identify and practice strategies for enhancing attachments and relationships utilizing family play therapy
  4. Describe the theoretical tenets and overview of filial play therapy
  5. Discover and practice playful techniques and games that can facilitate conflict resolution, encourage probelm-solving skills, and promote healthy negotation within the family dynamics.
  6. Explore how play can serve as a powerful tool for emotional regulation, stress reduction, and promoting self-expression for all family members.
  7. Learn practical strategies to enhance family members' resilience, coping skills, and adaptability in the face of challenges, using play as a conduit for growth.
